Did you just pick names out of a hat?? They are completely different careers in completely different professions.

Paralegal: http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos114.htm

While lawyers assume ultimate responsibility for legal work, they often delegate many of their tasks to paralegals. In fact, paralegals—also called legal assistants—are continuing to assume a growing range of tasks in legal offices and perform many of the same tasks as lawyers. Nevertheless, they are explicitly prohibited from carrying out duties considered to be the practice of law, such as setting legal fees, giving legal advice, and presenting cases in court.

Accountant: http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos001.htm

Accountants and auditors help to ensure that the Nation’s firms are run efficiently, its public records kept accurately, and its taxes paid properly and on time. They analyze and communicate financial information for various entities such as companies, individual clients, and government. Beyond carrying out the fundamental tasks of the occupation—preparing, analyzing, and verifying financial documents in order to provide information to clients—many accountants also offer budget analysis, financial and investment planning, information technology consulting, and limited legal services.

It is kind of like the difference between a penguin and a pocketwatch.

Paralegals assist lawyers. Some have undergraduate degrees, some have graduate degrees, lots have no formal training, just a lot of experience in the issues the lawyers they work for are involved in.

Accountants can range from bookkeepers to Certified Public Accountants. CPA's have to have a bachelor's degree and pass a difficult test. They review and audit financial records kept by bookkeepers, and or prepare tax returns. Some do lots of other stuff.

Both these jobs have wide variations in what you might do, what you might earn, and in the amount of education required.

A paralegal is a person with legal training and/or knowledge who works under the direct supervision of a lawyer. They are found in all areas where lawyers are in criminal trials, in real estate, in government, in estate planning. Paralegals and legal document assistants (LDAs) are often mistaken for one another; however, in most jurisdictions, paralegals are not permitted to contract directly with consumers for the preparation of legal documents.

accountant is a practitioner of accountancy, which is the measurement, disclosure or provision of assurance about financial information that helps managers, investors, tax authorities and other decision makers make resource allocation decisions.

In many countries the designation accountant, or at least the more specific terms qualified accountant or professional accountant, is a certified accountancy and financial expert. Like other legally restricted professions including doctors and lawyers, different countries have their own training and examination systems to maintain the quality of qualified accountants in their jurisdictions. There are many professional bodies for accountants throughout the world.

Accountants originally worked only in public practice, i.e. professional accountancy firms, selling advice and services to other individuals and businesses. Today, in addition, many work within private corporations, the financial industry and various government bodies.

An accountant keeps the books. Financial record keeping for a business, Tax Prep and filing, etc.
