There are both degree programs (Associates and Bachelor's) and certification programs. Make sure that your program is fully accredited and approved by your state; different states may have different requirements. Google for paralegal programs in your area.

A two year associates degree is needed. there are trade schools that you can go to that focus on just that area but if you want to pursue a career to offer advancement then you are better off going to a community college offering that degree and transfering to a four year school. good luck.

You can be a paralegal one year after law school.

As mentioned you can get a degree as a paralegal.

I'd suggest you ask any law students/professors you know about the field or if they know any paralegals.

I was certified as a paralegal after my BA. If there are law schools in your area or even associated with your school now, ask if they have a certfication course in it.

Be careful though. Be sure to compare programs. I knew of another program aside from the one I chose. What I didn't know was that although they charged the same price for tuition, this second program required your college transcript, 3 letters of recommendation AND that you buy the required text, which was quite expensive, of course.

Good luck!
